About
Objectives
The overall objective of LORELEI-X is to enhance the progress of the coordinating partner CMMI towards scientific excellence and innovation leadership by deploying efficient and long-term capacity-building and networking activities with two Advanced Partners, specifically selected for the top-class international recognition they have already achieved in the field of autonomous marine vessel design and development (NTNU) and autonomous control and navigation (DTU) respectively and their complementary capacity to support CMMI in developing expertise related to structural vessel design, autonomous launch and recovery of marine vehicles, dynamic motion model calculation through Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations and/or system identification experiments, fault-tolerant propulsion system and COLREGs informed, cyber-resilient marine navigation. CMMI will also benefit from connecting with the strong innovation ecosystems of both DTU and NTNU that allow students, researchers, and faculty to quickly bootstrap entrepreneurial initiatives through incubators for startups.
The overall project objective will be achieved through the following 4 key S.M.A.R.T. (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant to the topic and Time bound) objectives:
1
To implement capacity-building and knowledge transfer activities to strengthen CMMI’s R&I capacity and skills in the field of autonomous marine vessel design and development.
2
To realise a R&I project focused on the development and validation of TRL5 of an autonomous carrier vessel for micro-UUV deployment.
3
To implement Networking activities to raise the reputation, research profile and attractiveness of CMMI and enable all partners to improve outreach at an international level.
4
To maximize the project’s impact through wide dissemination, communication, exploitation, and ocean literacy activities.
